From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Planners parties.
