The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
