Liz Truss, Steve Bannon and Tucker Carlson? A Look Inside the Ex- PM's Audition for the Maga Movement

Liz Truss, launched the first edition of her video series with a vow to unmask "those with ill intent" striving to weaken Britain, the US and Europe. She explained she would lay bare how an "international network of liberal activists function to subvert popular rule and the public's choice."

"We're going to look at the Maga phenomenon and observe how this can be accomplished in Britain," she said. "Our guests will include the key figures of the Make America Great Again campaign."

In advance of the series premiere, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This marks the start of a type of transformation," stated John Solomon. His conservative Just the News platform will carry the Truss's new audio shows.

Forging Alliances in the Maga-Verse

UK-based allies, featuring a pro-Reform adviser, have also helped her set up the Liz Truss Show. The setup is professional, though simple. She has gathered 10,000 subscribers in her first week and her premiere garnered 67,000 views during that week.

It is a modest start, but in partnering with John Solomon, the former PM is being thrust into a established conservative ecosystem creating and spreading Maga talking points. Central preoccupations encompass claims of media suppression by the traditional news outlets and a goal to dismantle a shadowy government apparatus – a force that Truss blames for the rapid conclusion of her disastrous time in office.

"Just the News is not well-known outside of the Maga world, but it does have gravitas there, largely because of its founder, who gives commentary on pro-Trump shows like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even interviewed Trump," said an anthropology expert, who has closely studied the Make America Great Again phenomenon.

A Controversial Partner

Truss's attempt to bring American conservative media to the United Kingdom has pushed her closer to contentious individuals such as Solomon.

He established his media outlet in the wake of criticism following accusations of pushing misleading narratives about the President's actions in the Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about ex-ambassador to Ukraine.

These allegations were amplified within the conservative press, with Solomon featuring as a common interviewee on the prominent cable news broadcast. Trump himself boosted his stories.

Solomon made the Ukraine claims in a series of columns for the publication the Hill, where he was moved to a columnist role when staffers raised concerns over his articles. His claims were central in the then-president's request for the officials in Kyiv to look into Hunter Biden and his father in that year. These actions culminated in impeachment charges against Trump. The Senate later found not guilty the commander-in-chief.

Shortly after he exited the publication in October 2019, the publication stated it was performing a assessment of his reporting relating to Ukrainian matters. It determined Solomon had cited unreliable sources and stated he "omitted crucial information about main Ukrainian informants, including the reality that they had been formally accused or were being probed."

Becoming Part of the Sphere

His media appearances are a example of the conservative ecosystem Truss is joining. Solomon mentioned his endorsement of the program on a program he presents on the conservative cable network, a political media platform that is the base for the pro-Trump commentator Steve Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also features. The ex-PM has already interviewed Steve Bannon on one of her first podcasts.

In linking up with this media figure, Truss has become a minor player in a broader ecosystem of conservative media outlets that routinely share and promote one another's material.

Solomon's own broadcasts have often featured individuals such as influencer Mike Benz, a conservative commentator whose disparagement of USAID was used by the X owner as justification for dismantling the government body.

An International Strategy

Although the former PM's unnatural presentation and political travails have invited ridicule in Britain, a number of stateside commentators are taking seriously her bid to revamp her image as a local version of the pro-Trump media ecosystem.

"It is necessary to treat individuals such as her seriously, even if you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," said Rob Flaherty, who worked in the Biden administration.

"You saw how in 2024 President Trump utilized that ecosystem to disseminate his views. Certainly that sphere spreads and shapes debate internationally. It looks relatively clear to me that the environment in the United Kingdom are similar to what permitted this alternative media ecosystem to prosper in the US."

Alan Finlayson, said the digital right-wing media sphere was already exerting influence in the UK.

"Digital media transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There's a kind atmosphere within which ideas travel – on occasion manifesting in radical ways and other times more moderately – but which is interlinked."

The academic said the expansion of the online right in the United Kingdom in recent times meant the "chance to have a growing impact is considerable."

Cross-Atlantic Aspirations

"Both Truss and Nigel Farage recently were featured at the the major conservative conference, where I observed they echoed Make America Great Again rhetoric prior to the {king of Maga|
